This weekend Rick and I went to my Aunts cottage on Lake Wisconsin to help take out the pier.  We also got to go to a pumpkin farm and an apple orchard.

Fall is my favorite time of year.  I think that has to do with the fact that my paternal Grandmother loved fall and it always reminds me of her.  Well while out shooting some fall colors this weekend my cousing Jeff and I were talking about how we both love the fall season and he gave the same reason that I did.  I thought that was kinda cool.

Now the pumpkin farm is just that a farm that grows pumpkins,  they have them in their front lawn and there is a slot that you place your money in.  I promise I am not making fun of this, it was quite nice to go and pick a pumpkin and not have to pay to get into the “good” pumpkins.  There were no pony rides or even carnival rides.  Just plain old pumpkins, gourds, indian corn and assorated squash.

The Apple Orchard was a good time also,  My Cousins Wife Jen, called it an Apple Warehouse, and that probably discribed it better.  It was an orchard that they had already picked all the apples, so you just went in and purchased what you wanted.  They had all different varieties of apples, donuts, turnovers, carmel apples and pies.  We bought a pie and took it home and it was great.

The colors were great, the weekend was a great time with family and creating memories.  I have inserted a few ( and trust me this is just a few) of the picutres that I took.

So this coming weekend I will be hosting a SCRAP PINK all day crop at the store, and this is going to be the make n take that we will be doing.

I cut the cofin by hand, and trust me it took me several attempts to get it right, the rest is Quickutz.  Boo is diesel grand, witch hat, spider web (archivers exclusive) ghost, moon, bat the tombstone is the dog tag that I cut the top off of, and the dirt is the cloud that I cut in half.  The pumpkins are felt shapes from Queen and Co.

Well I entered my Clothes Pin into an altered item contest, and I won.  I can’t wait to see what the prize is.  I am a big fan of altering things, I purchase them and have an idea what I want to do and then I never seem to finish the project, or sometimes even start it.  But this time I started and finished in an evening.  Perhaps I just need motivation to get me going.

It has been quite awhile since I have scrapped for myself, that I am getting pretty bummed out about it.  I have a project at work that I am doing for a customer and it is not really thrilling me.  The out come is great but there is something to be said about working on your own stuff.  Hopefully I can finish it this week and then move onto something else.

The count down is only one week to go.

Have a great week

Today we as a family went to the Morton Arboretum, to see the big bugs.  They have 10 giant bugs, and when I say giant I mean giant.  The Praying Mantis was 18 ft long, and weighed 1200 lbs.  Here are the gils, even though it was a little rainy, it was a really fun day.  And I would recommend if you live in the chicagoland area and haven’t been it is somewhere to go when you have some spare time.  It is only around until July 20th.  If you are not in the Chicagoland area, you should watch for it to come near you, and go see them.  The craftmanship is fantastic.

The dragonfly was Ricks favorite, and I loved them all.

So this evening my friend Melissa is over and we are looking at wedding invitaions on line cause she is getting married next year.  And the best news is she asked me to be in the wedding,  I made sure that she understood that I am old and it was okay if she didn’t ask, I would be honored to attend.  She told me of course she wanted me to be in the wedding, we have been friends for 10+ years she has been coming over for dinner almost every Tuesday for those 10+ years.  So to stop her from begging, I agreed to stand up. The best part about it is for a dress all we have to do is purchase a black dress of our choice.  I think I can make that happen.  My whole family is very excited for her.,  She is a wonderful girl and I am so happy for her.

Well as the saying goes, “The party’s over” and what a party it was.  We had around 50 people, and I have to give a great big THANK YOU to my parents, mostly my mom for all her help in preparing the food.  Not sure what I would do without her, she is the best.  We had sloppy joes, deviled eggs, a fruit tray and dip, veggie tray and dip, tortolini salad (all made by mom) baked beans, tuna macaroni salad ( I made those) fried chicken (from Jewel) and cake.

To sum it up Great food, great family and friends, just an all around great day.  However today I am so tired, that I can hardly stay awake.  Rick and I got up to attend church, then we had to return tables and chairs that we borrowed, then more yard clean up and put stuff away, we even squeezed in a nap.

I am trying to stay awake for Army Wives on lifetime, I love that show and its the last one from last season before the new season starts next week.  Only 7 minutes till it starts, so that mean only 67 minutes before bedtime.

I will post some party picutres tomorrow, have a great week.

Just a quick post before I continue on with my morning,  Today is Hannah’s Graduation Party, I have been up since 5:00 working on things for the party and because I couldn’t sleep.  We have some new neighbors that decided to begin moving into their home, and needless to say they were not that quite.  So up I got to make a noodle salad, make sure we had enough of everything, and do some quick cleaning for the 50 people that are expected to join us to

So it’s official, Hannah is going to the prom.  And on Saturday we went to a dress sale at Dundee Crown HIgh School, thanks to our friend Tammy for the tip.  She heard on the radio that the school was having a used and new dress sale $20.00 for a formal dress from 11-4, however Hannah works until 2 so after work we went and let me tell you it was well worth it.  There were somewhere around 200 dresses in all colors shapes and sizes.  She found about 20 tht she agreed to try on.  The very first dress she tried she fell in love with.  The tag was still on and the regular price was $259.99 then it was marked down to $109.00.  It looked so good on her that we couldn’t pass it up.  When we went to pay there was a table of jewelry that she got to pick anything from, there were make up samples and she got entered into a drawing for a “prom make over”.  As I was going to pay I said to the nice lady “this is a fund raiser, right?” she said yes,  so instead of $20.00 I gave her $30.00, I figured if they were going to save me that much money why not give a little more.  So today she is off looking for jewelry and a purse.

Last nights crop was such fun, and very productive for me.  I believe that I am the slowest scrapper in the world, however last night I was on fire.  Not sure the reason but I managed to complete 5 layouts.  Now they weren’t the most complex layouts that I have ever done, but when they were finished they all turned out so cute.  I am one of those people that when someone says to me “I got 47 pages done at the last all day crop I went to”, I politely nod my head and reply “oh wow, that’s great, I don’t think I complete 47 a year” however in the back of my mind I’m thinking “yeah right, what do they look like”.   But one thing I have learned while scrapbooking is that one persons finished and anothers is completely different.  And as I always say “when your done with a layout and you like it, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks about it”.

As for the dinner it was okay, everyone said they liked it.  Not sure if it goes on the list to make again.

Now I’m off to shower, and get ready to go to church.  Have a great Sunday.
