2 great things in one day January 30, 2009

How lucky can one girl get in a single day.  Now get your minds out of the gutter, and understand that I am talking about a visit from my Catie.  Tomorrow is my extended families christmas party (late not early) at my Aunts in Algonquin, and Catie said she would just meet us there, but to my surprise she showed up at my work today and announced she was spending the night at home. 

So Catie and a great mail day, the only way this day could get any better is if hannah walked thru the door right now…….. still waiting…….

valentines day wreath January 30, 2009

I was looking thru some old magazines last week for a wonderful make n take for the all day crop in February and came across this wreath (well sorta)  it was a christmas wreath, but a adapted it for  Valentines day

I covered round coasters with american craft valentine paper, and then used my quickutz.  added some buttons, a ribbon for hanging and it’s just that easy.

mail day January 30, 2009

I read several blog, and I sometimes question the phrase “great mail day” however today I understand that statement.  Cause today was a GREAT mail day.  I received a wonderful surprise from a wonderful person.  You know who you are and I can’t thank you enough.

here are 2 layouts I did at the crop this weekend. 

I saw this layout as a 1 page in the two peas in a bucket gallery and thought it was cute so I created a 2 page layout with the pictures that I had

paper is colormates cardstock, title quickutz maryjane and ck handprint, swirls are reminece rubon

 

not sure where the paper is from, just colected a bunch of different brands.  flowers are autumn leaves (thanks Joyce), and rhinestones are from prima, title quickutz magnolia and maddiie anne

cute as a cupcake January 19, 2009

I did this page at the crop on Saturday Night, and was very pleased with it. 

paper american craft, title quickutz stardust and maddie anne, cupcake quickutz, chipboard heart and nameplate american crafts.

This paper came into the store and I just had to use it.  I turned the photos sepia in photoshop, (which I got from my wonderful husband for christmas) Thanks Rick.

new favorite dinner January 19, 2009

slow cooker enchiladas

1lb ground beef

1 onion, chopped

1 can chopped chilies (4 1/2 oz)

1 can mild enchilada sauce

1 can golden mushroom soup

1 can cheddar cheese soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 can cream of celery soup

1 pkg Doritos (12 1/2 oz nacho cheese)

Brown ground beef and chopped onion.   Pour off grease put all ingredients in crock pot except Doritos.  Mix and cook on low 4 to 6 hours.  Last 15 minutes before serving, add Doritos and stir.

It was yummy.  For the crop I ment to bring sour cream to serve with it but I forgot.  But Rick and I had it for left overs for dinner last night and I used sour cream, and it was even better.

Caties moving day January 11, 2009

Friday we moved catie into her dorm and I took just a few photos.

It’s small and cozy, and it amazes me that both girls dorms are so much different, from the layout to the decorations.  But then again that’s what I have for girls two very different individuals.

scholarship January 11, 2009

Here are some pages that I have worked on in the last couple of weeks.  I tried very hard to complete a page last night, but I finally decided that I don’t like any of the paper that I have so hopefully this week I can hit a store or two and find something new that I will just love.

backgrond paper fancy pants, patterned paper making memories and luxe.  chipboard flowers fancy pants, that I embossed with quickutz goosebumpz and then painted.  misc ribbon, and pink flower painted and stickled. 

winter break is over January 10, 2009

Well it’s finally here, the break is over and both our girls are now away at school.   We moved Catie in yesterday, and Rick took Hannah back today.  The weather is wonderful for a 5 hour drive.  I believe when we woke this morning there was 6 new inches of snow on the ground and it hasn’t stopped snowing yet. 

I got a text from Hannah that they made it back okay and now I just have to wait for Rick to make it safe and sound. 

Cropping tonight and I hope the dinner that I made is good, if so I will post the recipe tomorrow.

Saturday Night Dinner January 8, 2009

Had a crop this Saturday and it was quite full, and fun.  Dinner was a new recipe and it was really yummy, so I decided to share it with you.

Hearty Chick’n Dumplings

2 10-3/4 oz cans cream f chicken soup

2 14-1/2 oz cans chicken broth

1/2 onion diced

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast

2 16.3 oz tubes refrigerated biscuits, quartered

combine first 3 ingredients in a slow cooker,  Add chicken, cover and cook on high setting for 6 hours.  During the last hour of cooking remove chicken and shred with 2 forks.  Return to slow cooker add biscuit pieces to chicken mixture. Stir to coat.  Cover and cook on high for one hour

serves 4
