So yesterday was Rick’s Birthday, and what a day it was.  Well not really, he never wants anyone to make a deal about his birthday, it has taken me 20 years to finally get the point, so this year I treated it like any other day.  I did wish him a happy birthday when I talked to him in the morning, but we both worked all day, he didn’t get home until 9:00, he then made his own dinner, of Ramen noodles (big celebration dinner) and around 10:00 we went to bed.  Well this morning he asked me if I did anything special with “Mater” yesterday.  (for those of you that don’t know Mater is my vw beetle, that I purchased last year on Ricks birthday)  I have to say that I really didn’t do anything special with her or for her.  She really could use a bath, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.  I also must say that this was the 20th birthday that Rick and I have spent together and the 1st birthday that Mater and I have spent together and I still love them just as much today as I did on the first birthday we celebrated together.  Now I just wish I had a picture of the two of them togeter that I could share with you.  Perhaps I will do that tomorrow after everyone gets a bath.

Well it’s 7 am and I am up and ready to go to church,  in 2 hours.  There was a hot air balloon festival in our town this weekend and the balloons took off this moring,  so we decided to get up and see them off.  Well the newletter that I read said  7am and the newspaper that Rick read said 6am.  so we went at 6:45 and they were already gone.  So not much else to do this morning so I decided to blog. 

I had a crop yesterday and got 2 2 page layouts done. And I do believe that I completed 2007.  Both pages were from my trip to San Antonio Tx, with Fiskars and the fiskateers.  I can never thank them and Stephenie enough for the wonderful time I had and the great new friends that I met. 

I saw a layout similar to this in “601 scrapbook ideas” and decided this would be a great page for it.  I used orange, green and white flowers, buttons, and brads.  Not sure where they are all from, some are queen & co., prima, making memories, doodlebug, american craft buttons, bazzill brads.  There is even a quickutz flower.  The title is quickutz MaddieAnne.

So at the store we got this new Scenic Route paper “grafton” and I do believe that Scenic Route is one of if not my favorite paper company.  I just love the colors that they put together.  This page I made as a sample to hang in the store.

 

Pattern Paper Scenic route, Title Quickutz frankie, fishhook quickutz.  The fish is cut from the paper, and I used Karen Foster scrappers floss for the fishing line. 

If I haven’t said it before I love Scenic Route paper.

Just wanted to give a big Happy Father’s day to my wonderful Husband Rick.  And thank him for the great kids that we have.  We spent the day yesterday together and when I say together I mean it.  We piled into my parents van and traveled 7 hours to Minnesota for my nieces graduation party, and then piled back into the van and drove home.  We arrived at back home at 3:15am.  We are all a little tired to say the least. 

Also Happy Fathers’ Day to my Dad and Brothers.  Hope your day is a good one.

Well as I stated earlier my friend is getting married and asked me to be in the wedding.  I have not been in a wedding in 20 years and it was my own.  So I decided that I should loose a little weight.  (that statement “a little”, always cracks me up) Now don’t get all excited, I’m not doing anything crazy like joining a gym, but I am going to make every effort to walk everyday, and cut down on the junk food and pop.  The walking I can handle but the junk food and the pop are going to be tough.  Since my entire diet is junk and pop. 

Wish me luck, hey I might even get the girls to join me on a walk.  But for now it’s just me and my ipod.

Today we as a family went to the Morton Arboretum, to see the big bugs.  They have 10 giant bugs, and when I say giant I mean giant.  The Praying Mantis was 18 ft long, and weighed 1200 lbs.  Here are the gils, even though it was a little rainy, it was a really fun day.  And I would recommend if you live in the chicagoland area and haven’t been it is somewhere to go when you have some spare time.  It is only around until July 20th.  If you are not in the Chicagoland area, you should watch for it to come near you, and go see them.  The craftmanship is fantastic.

   The dragonfly was Ricks favorite, and I loved them all.

Last night at the crop I got 2 2 page layouts completed.  I know you are all amazed, I also believe that is a record for me.  This one is from Christmas, I still have a few pages to complete for that wonderful holiday, but I am working on them.

So this evening my friend Melissa is over and we are looking at wedding invitaions on line cause she is getting married next year.  And the best news is she asked me to be in the wedding,  I made sure that she understood that I am old and it was okay if she didn’t ask, I would be honored to attend.  She told me of course she wanted me to be in the wedding, we have been friends for 10+ years she has been coming over for dinner almost every Tuesday for those 10+ years.  So to stop her from begging, I agreed to stand up. The best part about it is for a dress all we have to do is purchase a black dress of our choice.  I think I can make that happen.  My whole family is very excited for her.,  She is a wonderful girl and I am so happy for her.

Well as the saying goes, “The party’s over” and what a party it was.  We had around 50 people, and I have to give a great big THANK YOU to my parents, mostly my mom for all her help in preparing the food.  Not sure what I would do without her, she is the best.  We had sloppy joes, deviled eggs, a fruit tray and dip, veggie tray and dip, tortolini salad (all made by mom) baked beans, tuna macaroni salad ( I made those) fried chicken (from Jewel) and cake. 

To sum it up Great food, great family and friends, just an all around great day.  However today I am so tired, that I can hardly stay awake.  Rick and I got up to attend church, then we had to return tables and chairs that we borrowed, then more yard clean up and put stuff away, we even squeezed in a nap. 

I am trying to stay awake for Army Wives on lifetime, I love that show and its the last one from last season before the new season starts next week.  Only 7 minutes till it starts, so that mean only 67 minutes before bedtime.
