Just a quick post before I continue on with my morning,  Today is Hannah’s Graduation Party, I have been up since 5:00 working on things for the party and because I couldn’t sleep.  We have some new neighbors that decided to begin moving into their home, and needless to say they were not that quite.  So up I got to make a noodle salad, make sure we had enough of everything, and do some quick cleaning for the 50 people that are expected to join us to

These pictures are from the wonderful weekend I spent in San Antonio Tx, with the fiskateers.  It was a once in a life time experience, that I will never forget.  50 of us were brought to Texas to learn about fiskar products and see how alot of them work.  We did a little sight seeing also.  The Alamo was one of our stops.

Hannah and her friend went to the zoo for post prom.  The only picuture that I got was the one of the two of them.  so I went on the Brookfield Zoo web site and downloaded some pictures to use.  I also went back into my pictures and picked some of the ones that I have taken over the years.  I really liked the way this turned out.  I love the penguins tucked under the word ZOO.

Memorial Day May 26, 2008

No great big plans today, my Dad asked Rick to come over and help him shape a tree, so that was the big plan.  Rick wanted to go to a Memorial Day service, but he didn’t care which one we went to.  So we checked in the paper and decided that we would go to one at 9:45 in downtown Elgin.  As we were waiting for it to start, we meet up with some friends that we have know for a long time and had a wonderful conversation with them.  As the service started I said to Rick that this was the first Memorial Service that I had ever been to.  My memories of Memorial Day as a kid were going to the town my Dad is from in Wisconsin and spending the weekend with my Grandparents.  They had a parade on Memorial Day and after the parade we would eat a donut with the family that gathered at my Great Aunts house and when we were done with donuts we would get in the car and drive the 4 hours home.  I know I don’t make it sound that glamorous, but it is some of the best childhood memories that I have.  We were like the city mice visiting the country mice.

Hannah is a High School Gradute.  The ceromony was yesterday and it was wonderful.  She looked stunning in her cap and gown.  It was held in the Sears Centre we had great seats, parking was good.  The only down side was trying to find her when it was all over.  But luckily we found her.  It was almost to the point of taking someone else home and trading later.

We will have her party on Saturday May 31st, so Rick and I spent part of the morning cleaning up the yard.  My mom is being wonderful and helping (who am I kidding, she is making almost everything) with the food, so I just have to concentrate on a cake and cleaning my house.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and go out and do something fun for Memorial Day.

Disney disapointment May 16, 2008

Filed under: chatter — pattichurch @ 8:49 am

So with high hopes we load onto the train, arrive downtown and walk the 6 blocks, to what we believe to be the opportunity of a life time for Hannah.  We are led into a room, where a very perky lady introduces herself.  There are 3 other young people there for the same reason.  She begins by telling that she has been with Disney for 21 years.  And shares lots about a “job” with Disney.  But never is anything said about interning.  When she is all finished she asks if there are any questions.  The young people have none.  She asks if my dad (who went with us) or I have any questions, and I asabout the inter program, and get told there isn’t one for this level of applicants.  At that Hannah collects her things and we leave.

To say we were disappointed is an understatement, however Hannah was a trooper and held her head high.  The program was presented to us as a “summer internship” and when we got there is was a “job fair”

We got back on the train and came home.  At one point something was said about it being a waste of time, but we would not have known that unless we went and I’m sad that it didn’t work out, but a little glad also.  Florida is a long way away and I would have missed her.  Glad to have you home for the Summer, college will come soon enough.

So the Church house is all a buzz today.  This afternoon, Hannah got an invitation to apply for a summer intern program at WALT DISNEY WORLD, and after much discussion and a few choice words, I have convinced her to fill out out paper work and apply.  We worked on it when she got home from school, and sent it off to the appropriate person, and tomorrow have to go in to Chicago for an interview.  With Rick out of town and me not much of a city girl, I have asked my Dad to go with us.  We are goint to takethe train and my Dad says the place we are going to is only 6 blocks from the train so we can walk it.

This is just an awesome thing to happen to her and I wish her the best of luck.  I will keep you posted as to what happens and let you all know how the interview went.  She even had the nerve to tell me that I can’t bring a camera.  I just laughed at her and said I was bringing it anyway.

Keep your fingers crossed for her.

Chatter May 10, 2008

So the countdown continues,

7.5 hours until the crop starts tonight, and I get to hang out with some of my friends, eat great food, and laugh a ton.  Tonight one of my customers offered to make dinner and two others are bringing dessert to celebrate their friends birthday, so I get the weekend off from cooking, which is very nice.

1 day till mothers day, and I hope all you moms out there get to do something fun.  We are having my parents over for dinner and that’s about it.  Prices are to high to do the Resturant thing, so we just cook at home, and spend the evening together.

2 days until the season finale of “The Hills” what will I do with myself on Mondays from now on?

7 days of school for Hannah left.  It seems so weird to think thats all thats left of my babies high school days.

21 days till her graduation party.

70 days till CHA and Lisa coming to visit.

Have a great weekend, and if I get anything done tonight I will post it.  Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mom, hope its a good one.  And remember take lots of pictures so you can scrap them next weekend.
